The Monarch Ultra

Clay Williams is a 64-year-old father of two living in Elmira with his wife of 43 years. Clay has a track record of making big plans, moving his family to Germany in 1998, to the United States in 2003, and organizing the world’s longest annual relay run from 2017 to 2024: the Canal Pursuit for Mental Health. In 2019 he was the Run Director of the Monarch Ultra, a 4,300km relay run from Peterborough, Ontario, to central Mexico, following the flight path of the monarch butterfly, in order to raise awareness of a population in decline.
